Dear Nomis,
Here's my story, hope you enjoy:
So last Christmas break, I was riding a day at Keystone with my buddy named Derek. We had been riding park for most of the morning but decided to take a few runs because the park was getting crowded. We started riding but weren't moving too fast since Derek was still kind of learning to ride. As you could imagine, runs were packed since it was Christmas break. I was riding down the left side of the run, watching Derek ride down the middle, when I see him accidentally cut off a skier wearing a black and red Huskers jacket. For those of you from outside of Colorado, seeing a Huskers jacket is never a good sign, so I immediately had the feeling that this might end badly (seeing a Husker's jacket isn't quite as bad as seeing tight jeans and a cowboy hat; all three is a baaad combo). Luckily, there had been no collision and both Derek and the skier were still on their feet. Derek was very apologetic and polite, but the man only gave him a very dirty look in return and shook his head. I know how it can be frustrating to get cut off, so I was understanding of the man's anger. Little did I know, the man was soon to take things way too far.
Once the (initial) confrontation was over, Derek and I started riding again. We had been riding a while, so we decided to stop about half way down and chill for a second on the side of the run. We were both sitting on our knees looking up the mountain and chatting, when I notice a skier riding straight down in our direction: the guy in the Huskers jacket. Derek hasn't noticed yet, but the guy is going “Texas-Tuck” style and full speed towards us. I was sure that he was going to turn before he got to us; I mean, who blatantly runs into someone else!? I soon realize the guy is aimed more directly at Derek and is now holding both of his poles with one hand...before I knew it, the skier reached Derek and took a full swing punch at Derek's dome and then kept riding!!!! The guy punched him so hard that Derek flipped back and slid down a couple feet with a bloody nose and cut up face. Derek looked up at me after sitting up; we were both speechless!!! The first thing he said was, “Did that really just happen?!?”
That dude could have handled being cut off in a couple of different ways, but I would say that punching my buddy in the face was taking rudeness to the max! Haha, I mean, of course he had the right to be a little mad, but why couldn't he have at least been polite about it? Accidents happen don't they? Well, the moral of the story: steer clear of rude people, they all suck (especially those in Huskers jackets), and of course, buy more Nomis gear
P.S. I absolutely love all the new clothes. I've been a huge supporter of Nomis ever since I read about you guys in the “Do It Yourself” article of a 2005 Snowboard Canada issue and you guys are still the best. Keep making awesome stuff!
