Today we planned on getting up early to help set up the airbag for High Cascade, but the weather wasn’t having it. The early mornings have been rainy and windy, so we slept in a bit then headed up to the mountain by 10. The first person I saw was my good friend Katie Williams. It’s funny how many people you meet throughout the years who have the same migration route. Familiar faces popped up throughout the day and it felt good to be back in the snowboard environment. We headed up the lift wondering if we were going to ever get out of the clouds. Today we had a new addition to our crew. The girl to guy ratio just became a little more equal! The girls include Jessika Jenson, Molly Clark, and myself. The guys who are here right now are Red Gerard, Braden Landon, Adam Giola, and of course our coach Dustin Linker. It is really relaxed this trip not having 20 kids in the house!
Dustin had a lot of paperwork to get done so I decided I’d give him the day off. I follow-cammed with the Go Pro all day while everyone jumped and jibbed. Molly got her feet underneath her since it was her first day on snow in 2 months. Jessika and Braden hit up the jump line in public park (Braden landed his first front seven ever!) and Red shredded Windells, and from what I hear got some shots with them too! It was a great day that ended with hiking the pipe to work on some handplants.
After riding, we came home to our cabin in the forest. With a new burst of energy, everyone went to Windell’s to skate and jump on the tramp at BOB. BOB is the indoor skatepark and foam pit with a trampoline. Only the kids that have Windell’s passes get to go there, and whoever rides for companies that sponsor Windell’s. We brought some bikes out here, so I like to take Jackson on a ride when I get home. I love being out in the woods where the houses are camouflaged by the mossy trees and you can smell hundreds of different plants and flowers. Reminds me of living in Jackson. The night ends with some barbecued cheeseburgers, fries, and a movie. Oh and don’t forget the hot tub!
- Red is always jumping off of something!
- Jessika Jenson learned bs handplant
