The tragedy in Japan hits very close to home with us here at Nomis and Technine.
Jonah Owen, Dylan Thompson and the rest of the Technine crew were in Japan when disaster struck. We are eternally grateful for their safe return. In a few short weeks our design crew was scheduled for an inspiration trip to Tokyo, which will likely be canceled due to the exstensive damage — both physical and emotional — that has been dealt to the city by the recent earthquake and tsunami.
Many of us have friends in Japan whose lives have been turned upside down by this calamity. The situation has changed the landscape and culture of a society that we all admire. It’s one of our favorite places to travel; not only to be inspired by the fashion, architecture and landscape, but also by a society that has the utmost respect for each other and their surroundings. This tragedy has taken many lives, torn apart entire families and scarred the land, which is a sacred and integral part of their society.
Japan could use our help to get back on track and every dollar counts. If you have anything to spare please support one of the following amazing foundations that are on the ground in Japan, making a difference in people’s live right now:
Convoy of Hope
Red Cross
AmeriCares
Save the Children
Wes Richardson, a friend to Nomis, made a beautiful video 5 months before the disaster. For us, it captures the essence and beauty of Japan more than anything else we can think of.
This video gives us all chills.
